The British Deputy High Commissioner to Ghana, Keith McMahon, says he would have preferred Liverpool to buy Mohammed Kudus ahead of Florian Wirtz during the summer transfer window.
The Reds signed Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen before the start of the season despite showing interest in Kudus.
The German has struggled to settle at Anfield since the start of the season, failing to score in any of his 11 official games for Arne Slot’s side.
Wirtz has drawn criticism among some fans for his recent performances.
Quizzed on which Ghanaian player he would have signed for Liverpool, McMahon, who is also a Liverpool fan, said, “[Mohammed] Kudus. The man is amazing”
“I don’t know why we didn’t buy him from West Ham. I would have bought him before Wirtz.”
