Nigerian singer, Yemi Alade, has finally addressed the long-standing question about a possible collaboration with colleague Tiwa Savage, and it seems fans shouldn’t expect it anytime soon.
Speaking on an interview session with Chude, Yemi Alade said she’s a huge believer in women supporting women and has worked with many female artists over the years.
“I’ve had collaborations with Omawunmi, with Waje, even with Seyi Shay. I’ve had collaborations with a lot of African female artists around the world. I’m a big champion for female collaborations,” she said.
But when Tiwa Savage’s name came up, Yemi admitted she’s choosing peace over avoidable drama.
“I know that the fan-favourite collaboration is the one you mentioned. I’d rather just stay clear; I don’t want problems in my life. I don’t want problems.”
She went on to explain that her decision has nothing to do with bad blood, but with how fans and the media often create tension where there’s none.
“You know the thing is that fans and media just tend to stir the water where the water is supposed to be still,” she said
Adding that she’d rather “just exist and not try to make something out of nothing.”
