Music producer Joseph Appiah has launched a project on dyslexia titled My 1s’t Creative Dyslexia Audiobook

The event took place on 5th December 2025 at the Music Department of the University of Ghana in Accra.

The project is designed to shape the creative abilities of dyslexics globally, offering guidance and insight to learners who seek support through an educational tool tailored to their needs.

Dr Benjamin Amakye-Boateng, Head of the Music Department at the University of Ghana, received a copy of the audiobook on behalf of the School of Performing Arts.

In his remarks, he said, “every student must have the chance to develop through their strengths.”

Mr Joseph Appiah and his team plan to embark on a tour to promote My 1s’t Creative Dyslexia Audiobook.

Having suffered dyslexia when he was young, Appiah, formerly known as Quick Action, has championed various projects in the past for the same cause.

His project DYSLEXIA IS NOT DISABILITY was launched on BBC’s ‘Focus on Africa’ two years ago year.

In 2023, he visited the United Kingdom for a cultural exchange programme at the King’s College London.

The programme allowed Joseph to study alongside local students while experiencing a different education system and style of teaching, sharing his expertise and knowledge, and making memories that will last a lifetime.

He also participated in the Art Emergency Workshop meant to enhance his professional expertise in developing talents in Africa and the world.

Dyslexia is a learning difficulty that affects how a person reads, writes and processes language. It is not linked to intelligence. People with dyslexia often have normal or above average intelligence but struggle with tasks that involve recognising words, spelling or reading fluently.

It happens because the brain processes written and spoken language differently. Common signs include slow reading, difficulty spelling, mixing up letters, or finding it hard to process instructions quickly.
