The Kabaka Foundation, a non-profit organisation, has donated large quantities of food items, gallons of cooking oil, toiletries, Stationery, and sanitary pads to the Demonstration School for the Deaf (with Deafblind Unit) at Akuapem Mampong in the Eastern Region Wednesday, September 17, 2025.
The donation was led by the Chairman and Founder of the Foundation, Nana Owiredu Wadie I, Nkosuohene of Kwahu Nkwatia, as part of his philanthropic activities to support vulnerable groups during his birth month of September.
Nana Owiredu Wadie, I assured management of the school that the Foundation will construct a Massage Centre within a year, to address the therapeutic needs of students with neuro conditions, following an appeal from school authorities.
” The headmaster said something about a massage project, I will tell you today before God and man, next year before I celebrate my birthday, this project should be completed”, he said.
Receiving the items, Headmaster of the School, Setumte Dodzi Ametewee, commended the Kabaka Foundation for the timely support, explaining that the school, which operates on a boarding system, largely depends on government subvention and the benevolence of NGOs and individuals.
He further expressed deep gratitude for the promise to build the Massage Centre, describing it as a dream project long desired by the school.
” We appreciate Nana Owiredu Wadie for the kind gesture. I believe and trust that he will build the massage centre as promised before his next birthday.
Many of the things we need: Equipment, funding, materials and the logistics we need to nurture these kids cannot be borne by the parents and the school, and because of that, there’s so much pressure on the government, but I believe that the contributions from Nananom can help a great deal”, he stated
The Chief of Aburi and Adontenhene of Akuapem Traditional Area, Otobour Djan Kwasi, together with the Chief of Abotakyi, Nana Sakyi Ababio II, accompanied Nana Owiredu Wadie I during the donation exercise and lauded the Foundation for its continuous efforts to improve the lives of vulnerable groups in society.
As part of activities marking Nana Owiredu Wadie I’s birthday month, the Kabaka Foundation has already extended similar support to children with disabilities at the Orthopaedic Training Centre in Nsawam, organised free health screenings and donations for vulnerable groups on the streets of Accra, and cut sod for the construction of the Antenatal Unit and Adolescent Corner facilities at the Ga East Hospital.
The Foundation’s impact over the years has been significant. In 2023, it handed over an 80-bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) to the Eastern Regional Hospital, drastically reducing neonatal deaths in the region.
More recently, in June 2025, the Foundation commissioned a newly built Antenatal and Postnatal Care Unit at the Ashongman Reproductive & Child Health Post.
The Kabaka Foundation also promotes menstrual health through sanitary pad distribution, supports education by constructing classrooms and distributing learning materials to students,
The foundation continues to sponsor brilliant but needy students at the university level.
In terms of justice delivery, it has built a court complex, police station, and residential facilities for police officers, while making contributions toward Ghana’s healthcare, education, and social development agenda in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2030.
