Maud Avevor wins 2024 GoldCap Leadership Award for innovation and operations

Maud Avevor has been honoured with the 2024 Leadership Award in Innovation and Operations by GoldCap Awards, joining 15 global winners celebrated for driving transformative change through operational excellence and forward-thinking solutions.

Her recognition comes as no surprise to those who have followed her career. From government modernisation projects to digital finance solutions, Ms. Avevor has consistently shown that consulting can be both innovative and human-centred.

“This award is a responsibility and a reminder that Africa’s challenges demand practical, forward-looking solutions,” she said.

Her work reflects impact at multiple levels. She guided a 30-year-old engineering firm in Ghana through a critical generational transition, creating a renewed structure and vision for sustainable growth.

She also helped a cosmetic start-up secure financial stability, positioning it for loan acquisition and long-term success.

Her influence extends beyond Ghana. From Accra’s start-up corridors to Lagos’s policy roundtables and global business forums, she is shaping Africa’s digital future.

During the COVID-19 era, she designed a grant distribution and accountability system that became one of West Africa’s most data-driven public-private support models.

She has also pioneered technology-driven solutions, including an AI-powered financial management platform for MSMEs to combat fraud and improve compliance.

Initially tested in Africa, the platform is now in pilot phases in the United States, Europe, and the Middle East.

Beyond her professional achievements, Ms. Avevor is deeply committed to leadership development.

She mentors emerging consultants and is building a fellowship program to prepare first-generation African strategists for an era dominated by AI and digital finance.

Her published works also advocate digital transformation as a core strategy for SME growth.

“Africa needs solutions that are rooted in the realities of our people and powered by the ingenuity we already have,” she asserts.

In her acknowledgement, GoldCap Awards Founder Muhammad Husain described her as a “force-multiplying leader” who translates analytic depth into tangible operational improvements while cultivating capabilities in others.

Accepting the award, Ms. Avevor said it aligns with her vision for leadership rooted in precision, innovation, and resilience.

“We don’t just need consultants or experts, we need co-creators of progress. That’s the kind of work I want to keep doing.”
