The Mfantseman–Saltpond Development Alliance (MSDA) has commended the Government of Ghana and the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources for submitting the revised Mining Lease Agreement with Barari DV Ghana Limited to Parliament for ratification.
In a statement signed by the President of the Alliance, Osagyefo Ernest De-Graft Egyir, the MSDA described the move as a significant milestone toward promoting transparency, accountability, and community benefit in Ghana’s mineral resource management.
As the host community of the Lithium Mining Project, residents of Saltpond and the wider Mfantseman area have expressed optimism that the new agreement will ensure a fair and sustainable partnership that delivers shared prosperity for both local communities and the nation.
The Alliance assured the government and all stakeholders of its unflinching support in advancing the ratification process to a successful conclusion.
“We remain committed to fostering constructive collaboration between the Government, the private sector, and local communities to ensure that the Lithium Mining Project contributes meaningfully to socio-economic development and the long-term growth of Saltpond and Mfantseman,” the statement read.
The revised agreement marks another step in Ghana’s efforts to ensure that emerging lithium resources are developed under frameworks that prioritize local participation, environmental responsibility, and equitable growth.
