Nana Adwoa Awindor of Greetings from Abroad fame, has hosted the 2025 edition of Queen Mothers’ Day as part of the prestigious Oguaa Fetu Afahye festival in Cape Coast.
This initiative was championed through her Obaapa Development Foundation.
This year’s celebration honored the leadership, cultural stewardship, and advocacy of the Ghana National Union of Queen Mothers (Gh-UNIQ), with strong support from Promasidor Ghana, producers of Onga and Twisco, and Delta Paper Ltd., producers of Flora Tissues and Baby Diapers.
Delta Paper Ltd. contributed over 500 items, including Flora tissues, facial packs, and baby diapers, to highlight maternal and child wellness. “Their support aligned seamlessly with Obaapa Development Foundation’s mission to elevate traditional leadership, promote community health, and empower women and children,” said NanaHemaa Awindor, Founder and Executive Director of the Obaapa Development Foundation.
She added: “Delta Paper Ltd. did not just sponsor an event; they affirmed the value of every Queen mother and mother present. Their partnership reflects a shared commitment to cultural heritage, maternal dignity, and sustainable development.”
The program featured rich cultural performances, an engaging cooking competition set up by the Onga Team, and advocacy sessions led by the Ghana Health Service, World Child Cancer (Ghana Program Office), and partner foundations. A youth mentorship dialogue, delivered by NanaHemaa Awindor on behalf of ODF, addressed the critical role of traditional leaders in tackling teenage pregnancy, child marriage, menstrual hygiene, and other pressing issues.
The event, hosted by the Paramount Queen Mother of Oguaa Traditional Area, Nana Ekua Abookyi VI, attracted queen mothers and traditional leaders from across Ghana, along with development partners and media houses, including Oyerepa TV from Kumasi and other regional networks.
The branding presence of Onga and Delta Paper Ltd. was highly visible throughout the event, underlining their reputation as socially responsible companies committed to community development.
The Obaapa Development Foundation expressed its gratitude to Delta Paper Ltd. and Promasidor Ghana and invited ongoing collaboration in future projects, including the upcoming Women & Children’s Day and regional wellness campaigns in the Volta Region during the Asogli Te Za festival.
