A member of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Deputy spokesperson for Dr Bawumia’s campaign team, Dr Ekua Amoakoh, has criticised Awutu Senya East MP, Phyllis Naa Koryoo Okunor, for what she described as “false and embarrassing claims” against former Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture, Mavis Hawa Koomson, during and after the 2024 general elections.
Speaking on the AM Show on Friday, Dr Amoakoh said recent developments vindicate Hawa Koomson and expose what she called the “depth and severity” of falsehoods spread by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) during the elections.
“As time goes on, a lot of vindication is happening and the people of Ghana are beginning to see the truth about the depth and the severity of the lies that the NDC told to be able to come into power,” she said.
Her comments follow a press conference by Naa Koryoo in Parliament on Thursday, November 6, 2025, where the MP dismissed a claim by Interior Minister Muntaka Mubarak that she had denied being attacked during the 2024 polls.
Dr Amoakoh, however, described the press conference as “the crowning glory of shame,” accusing the Awutu Senya East MP of misleading Ghanaians with what she called a “bag of lies.”
She added that Hawa Koomson’s life was nearly endangered during the tense by-election period in the constituency.
“Because of this, Hon. Hawa Koomson was almost killed during that by-election. If anything had happened to her, it would have just been like that, and we would cry and complain,” she said.
