Speaker of Parliament Endorses KGL Group’s CSR Impact at Democracy Cup Launch

The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has praised the KGL Group for its strong commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), especially through the work of the KGL Foundation.

Speaking at the official launch of the 2nd edition of the Democracy Cup, the Speaker highlighted KGL Group’s financial support as a major boost for the event.

The Democracy Cup, initiated by Parliament in 2024, aims to promote peace, unity, and civic engagement through sports. The first edition struggled due to a lack of funding, but this year’s tournament has received full backing from KGL Group.

“The sponsorship by KGL Group of the Democracy Cup is a significant demonstration of the company’s corporate social responsibility engagements which goes beyond conventional charity to include economic, social, environmental, health, education, and youth development,” Speaker Bagbin said.

He encouraged other companies to follow KGL’s example by partnering with government to support national development and unity.

The Speaker also praised KGL’s contribution to the National Consolidated Fund and its support for the National Lottery Authority (NLA) and Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).

The company’s operations have added millions of cedis to the economy without costing the state.

KGL’s Executive Chairman, Mr. Alex Dadey, emphasised the importance of sustainable Public-Private Partnerships (PPP). He said, “PPP should not become a financial burden to the State or a means of siphoning public funds.”

Over the last five years, the KGL Foundation has funded a range of major projects, including:

* Building a mental health facility in Kumasi with Otumfuo Osei Tutu II
* Renovating the Accra Psychiatric Hospital
* Developing a Mental Health Index (MHI)
* Supporting national and youth football leagues
* Sponsoring the annual Millennium Marathon
* Donating incubators to hospitals across Ghana

Mr. Dadey reaffirmed KGL’s long-term commitment to supporting public and government efforts in building peace, unity, and national progress.
