The Ministry of Sports and Recreation will officially launch the National Recreation & Wellness Programme (NaRWP) on Monday, September 22, at Mantse Agbonaa in Jamestown.
Dubbed “Play More, Live Well – The Ga-Mashie Edition,” the early morning event is expected to kick off at 6:00 a.m. and will bring together residents, schools, youth groups, fitness clubs, and community leaders.
The initiative is a collaboration between the Ministry and the Odododiodio Constituency, spearheaded by the Sports and Recreation Minister, Hon. Kofi Iddie Adams, and the area’s Member of Parliament, Hon. Alfred Nii Kotey Ashie.
NaRWP is a nationwide drive aimed at encouraging active lifestyles, improving public health, and deepening community engagement through recreational, wellness, rehabilitation, and school-based physical activity programmes.
Activities lined up for the Ga-Mashie activation include mass aerobics, free health screening, indigenous games such as Oware, Ludu, Ampe, and Draft, as well as football and volleyball matches. A Tag of Peace rope challenge will also be staged, with prizes, trophies, and giveaways to be awarded to participants.
The event is open to the public, with organizers urging participants to attend in sportswear and take part in what promises to be a vibrant and inclusive celebration of recreation and wellness.
