Suzzy Pinamang, the senior high school student who survived a tragic shooting incident that left her with a severe eye injury, has been cleared to resume school after a successful medical review in London.
Suzzy Pinamang, who underwent delicate eye surgery in early June at Moorfields Eye Hospital, returned to the facility between September 10 and 16 for a scheduled follow-up. Doctors confirmed that her recovery is progressing well, expressing satisfaction with the outcome of the surgery.
The medical team reported significant improvements in her vision and overall healing, though they advised her to continue with routine check-ups and protective care to ensure long-term recovery.
Plans are now underway to enrol her in a new school, with full support from the Ibrahim Mahama Global Foundation, to aid her continued rehabilitation.
Earlier this year, Suzzy Pinamang was flown to the UK for specialised treatment after a viral video drew national attention to her injury.
Business mogul and philanthropist Ibrahim Mahama covered the full cost of her medical care, travel, and accommodation. She was accompanied by her brother and Rafik Mahama, the Special Aide to Mr. Mahama.
Speaking to the media after the review, Suzzy Pinamang expressed gratitude to her family, doctors, and benefactors.“This has not been an easy road, but I thank God for life and for the doctors who have given me hope again.
“I am also thankful to everyone who stood by me, especially Mr. Ibrahim Mahama, who’s truly God-sent, and to everyone who has supported me with prayers and kindness.”
She also extended appreciation to the Ghana High Commission in London for their consistent support, and singled out the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, as well as Ambassador-in-situ and Chief of State Protocol, Gustav Kwaku Sefe Dovlo, for their instrumental roles in facilitating her treatment arrangements.
