The Chief Executive Officer of Telecel Ghana, Patricia Obo-Nai, has clarified that the company has not taken over AT Ghana’s operations, stressing that its involvement is strictly limited to providing network capacity support.
Speaking, Ms Obo-Nai said Telecel’s intervention came at the request of the government to help stabilise AT’s network performance.
“Government asked us to step in and provide network capacity to AT, so we immediately started by preparing the networks, a process carried out by engineers from both sides. That is what we are doing to date,” she explained.
Telecel Ghana’s support, she added, aims to improve service quality for AT customers while ensuring seamless network operations.

Mrs. Patricia Obo-Nai clarified that the arrangement involves close technical collaboration between engineers from both Telecel Ghana and AT Ghana, ensuring AT customers continue to receive reliable network services.
She emphasised that Telecel’s support does not constitute a takeover of AT Ghana, but is solely aimed at maintaining connectivity while broader decisions regarding the operator’s future are considered.
The clarification comes amid public speculation over AT Ghana’s operational status and the role of other telecom companies in supporting its network.
Both Telecel Ghana and AT Ghana are key players in the country’s telecommunications sector, providing mobile and data services to millions of subscribers nationwide.
