Sports Minister Kofi Adams has thrown his weight behind Asante Kotoko and Bibiani GoldStars as they prepare for their CAF inter-club competition matches this weekend at the Accra Sports Stadium.
GoldStars will face Algeria’s JS Kabylie on Saturday in the CAF Champions League while Asante Kotoko hosts Nigeria’s Kwara United on Sunday in a CAF Confederation Cup fixture. Both matches will take place at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Ahead of the games, Adams visited Kotoko’s training ground on Friday, where he challenged the Porcupine Warriors to restore their place among Africa’s elite.

He urged the players to show discipline, unity, and resilience, reminding them that their performance carried the hopes of millions of Ghanaians.
He later met with Bibiani GoldStars at their hotel. The Minister praised the club for earning a maiden place on the continental stage, encouraging the players to seize the opportunity to write history. He noted that their consistency in the domestic league was proof they could compete with Africa’s best.

To aid preparations, the MP for Buem Constituency donated GH¢10,000 each to the two clubs. He also reiterated government’s commitment to supporting Ghanaian clubs through infrastructure, policy, and technical assistance.

“As you represent Ghana, know that the entire nation is behind you,” Adams told the players.
“These matches are bigger than your clubs; they are about Ghana’s pride on the African stage.”
Both Kotoko and GoldStars will be looking to justify that support when they take to the pitch this weekend, aiming to make a strong statement for Ghanaian football in continental competition.
