Three suspected robbers arrested at Mallam Junction

The Amanfro District Police Command, under the Weija Division, has arrested three suspected robbers who allegedly attacked passengers at Mallam Junction in the early hours of Thursday, 16th October 2025.

According to a statement released by the police, officers acted swiftly on intelligence and proceeded to the scene, where four men were reportedly robbing unsuspecting passengers.

Upon noticing the police, the suspects attempted to flee.

However, three of them, identified as Stephen Amoani, aged 42; Osei Antwi, aged 30; and Kwame Mike, were apprehended.

One suspect, Kofi Sammy, who was allegedly armed with a pump-action gun, managed to escape.

A search conducted on the suspects led to the retrieval of several items, including a cutlass concealed on Osei Antwi, a black Honda CR-V with trade plate number DV 3145-2025, three yellow gallons of akpeteshie, a bag containing GH₵12,055, and three mobile phones – a Samsung A05, an iPhone 16, and an Itel Android – all believed to be stolen.

However, while in detention, suspect Kwame Mike escaped after requesting to use the washroom.

The officer, who escorted him, has since been invited for questioning as part of ongoing administrative investigations.

On 20th October 2025, the remaining accused persons, Stephen Amoani and Osei Antwi, were arraigned before the Weija Circuit Court.

The charges were read and explained to them in Twi, a language they both understood. They pleaded not guilty and were remanded into police custody to reappear on 10th November 2025.

Meanwhile, efforts are underway to apprehend the two suspects still at large, Kwame Mike and Kofi Sammy, to assist with investigations.

All retrieved exhibits have been retained for evidential purposes, and the vehicle remains impounded pending further action.

The Accra Regional Police Command has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of residents, urging the public to continue providing credible information to support ongoing investigations and crime prevention efforts.
