The University of Ghana has refuted claims circulating on social media that it is inviting investors to enter a joint venture agreement involving 80 acres of land in Legon.
In a statement issued by the Office of the Registrar on Monday, October 20, 2025, the University described the advert as false and misleading, warning the public against engaging with individuals behind the publication.
“The University wishes to advise and warn the public that the said parcel of land forms part of the larger University of Ghana lands, and that the University has neither commissioned anyone to put that advert in the public domain nor has any intention to establish one,” the statement read.
The University said management’s attention had been drawn to the fraudulent advert, which purports to offer investment opportunities in a “prime area” of Legon.
It cautioned that the post is not sanctioned by the institution and urged the public to report any suspected members of the syndicate to the police or the University’s management.
“The public is therefore advised to disregard the advert running on social media platforms and report anyone suspected to be part of the syndicate to the Police or University of Ghana Management,” the statement added.
The University further reaffirmed its commitment to transparency in all official land and development transactions, stressing that any legitimate public notices or investment opportunities would only be communicated through its authorized channels.
