The Bekwai Municipal Director of Education, Leticia Obeng, has disclosed that five students have been absent since the start of the WASSCE in the Bekwai Municipality of the Ashanti Region.
According to her, four of the absentees are believed to have traveled outside Ghana, as they are not in their various schools, and one is seriously ill.

A total of 6,307 candidates from six public and five private senior high schools within the municipality are taking part in the exams.
Speaking to Adom News during her tour to some centers in the municipality, she added that the students are writing their exams in a conducive environment.

“We haven’t recorded any examination malpractice yet, but we have put in place strict measures to combat such incidents,” she stated.
The Municipal Chief Executive of Asante Bekwai, Salifu Issaka, urged the candidates to remain calm and focused.

He mentioned that candidates in the Ofoase Kokoben Senior High School were transferred to Bekwai due to logistical issues, but stressed that the assembly, in collaboration with the education directorate, is actively working to resolve the matter.
