West Akyem MCE Launches Nkoko Nkitinkiti Project, Distributes Chicks to Boost Household Livelihoods

The Municipal Chief Executive for West Akyem in the Eastern Region, Paulina Akabilla, has launched the distribution of chicks to households under the government’s Nkoko Nkitinkiti Project, an initiative aimed at promoting poultry farming and improving local livelihoods.

The programme forms part of the government’s wider efforts to enhance food security and tackle poverty at the community level.

In the Akyem Owuram zone, over 700 beneficiaries have received support through the programme, with each household allocated 20 birds. The initiative is being implemented with an emphasis on transparency and efficiency to ensure that the intended families fully benefit.

Speaking to the media, Madam Akabilla explained that the project aims to economically empower households while promoting small-scale poultry farming across the municipality.

She encouraged beneficiaries to set aside partisan differences and fully support the initiative, emphasizing that its goal is to boost household incomes and strengthen food security.

Meanwhile, several beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama’s government and the West Akyem Municipal Assembly for the assistance, pledging to make the most of the birds to improve their livelihoods.
