World Cup 2026Q: ‘It will be easier to play in front of our fans’ - Otto Addo

Black Stars head coach Otto Addo believes playing at home against Mali will be much easier for his team compared to the game against Chad.

Ghana drew 1-1 with Chad on match day seven of the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers in their last game raising questions about the team’s performance.

Addo’s side have the chance to redeem the faith of Ghanaians again when they face Mali at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday, September 8.

Speaking ahead of the game, the gaffer is confident the supporters will see the team differently from their last outing three days ago.

“Everybody was very disappointed after the draw in Chad. The expectation was high for us to win. We were disappointed, we analyzed the game very well and hoped that we learn out of this,” he said.

“I’m very sure we will show another phase in Accra; it’s easier to play at home with our spectators supporting us, pushing the last percentages out of the body of the players to play in the evening on grass. I expect different phase of the players.

“I hope we learned from the mistakes we did against Chad. The good thing is that we still have it in our own hands.“

Ghana will go seven points clear of Mali with a win on Monday while also restoring their four point lead over Comoros who beat Central African Republic on Sunday.
