Yango Ghana hosts media lunch to clarify business model and strengthen industry ties

Yango Ghana has engaged the Ghanaian media in a special lunch discussion aimed at deepening collaboration and shedding light on its business operations. The event, brought together media stakeholders to better understand Yango’s model and future outlook in Ghana.

Bennet Otoo, Public Relations Manager for Yango Africa, explained that the session was organized to clarify misconceptions surrounding the company’s operations.

“The purpose of this meeting was for us to explain Yango’s business model, how we operate, and also to correct certain misconceptions that the general public has about Yango. From our origin, headquarters, and countries of operation to the fact that we are a global technology company and not just a ride-hailing brand.”

He emphasized that Yango’s operations extend beyond ride-hailing, highlighting the company’s role as a technology enabler that partners with small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). According to him, Yango provides the technological framework while empowering independent partners to create jobs and income opportunities.

Mr. Otoo also noted that while Ghana’s ride-hailing industry is steadily growing, public understanding of how such services operate remains limited. He said Yango is committed to sustainability through continuous app improvements, enhanced safety features, financial support for partners, and the introduction of electric vehicles (EVs) to help reduce carbon emissions.

“We believe that Ghana’s ride-hailing industry is still green, despite the presence of a few long-standing operators. Yango is ensuring sustainability by improving our technology, supporting our partners, and introducing EVs to mitigate CO₂ effects.”

The media engagement, described as the first in a series of stakeholder meetings, was also aimed at positioning the media as a key partner in the dissemination of accurate information about the ride-hailing industry.

“This meeting was the first step to building a strong relationship with the media, who are key stakeholders in our operations. Going forward, we will continue to engage them as our first point of call when it comes to information dissemination and industry updates.”

With this initiative, Yango Ghana seeks to cement its place in the local market while reinforcing trust, transparency, and collaboration with the media and broader Ghanaian public.
