Young man fatally stabbed in Ashanti New Town over chair dispute

A 20-year-old man, identified as Kwadwo Bright, has died after he was allegedly stabbed during a quarrel over a plastic chair at Ashanti New Town in the Manhyia South constituency of the Ashanti Region.

The incident occurred on Thursday, 4 September 2025, at a local snooker hall where the deceased and the suspect are said to have clashed.

Speaking to reporters, the victim’s mother, Georgina Yeboah, explained that the misunderstanding had initially been settled, but the suspect later returned and allegedly attacked her son, stabbing him in the neck.

Eyewitnesses recounted that the scuffle intensified suddenly, leading to shouts that drew residents to the scene. Mrs Yeboah, who hurried over after hearing the commotion, discovered her son gravely injured.

Kwadwo was rushed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

The suspect has since fled the area. Police have opened investigations and launched a manhunt to apprehend him.
