A four-year-old boy, Godsway Nuchuga, has died, while his 35-year-old brother, Seth Nuchuga, remains in critical condition after a building collapsed on them during a heavy downpour at Awutu Papaase Number 1 in the Awutu Senya West District.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, April 14, 2026. The two were reportedly asleep in their “Atakpame” structure when it gave way under the impact of the rains.
Rescue efforts were launched shortly after the collapse, but the younger boy was pronounced dead after he was pulled from the rubble. His brother was rushed to the Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital, where he is currently receiving emergency treatment.
Confirming the incident to Adom News, the Awutu Senya West District Director of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), Salifu Adams, urged residents to take precautions as the rainy season intensifies.
Authorities say a full assessment of buildings in the area is yet to be conducted.
