56-year-old security man remanded over alleged rape of two KNUST female students

A 56-year-old security man at the Ayeduase Roman Catholic Junior High School, Lloyd Kwaku Boateng, has been brought before the Asokore Mampong District Court over allegations of rape, extortion, and intimidation involving two female students of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).

Boateng is accused of sexually assaulting and extorting money from the two students in separate incidents said to have occurred in February and April 2026. He has been remanded into custody as investigations continue.

First incident

The court, presided over by Her Worship Hilda Esther Wryter, heard that the first incident occurred on February 13, 2026, at about 9:00 p.m. when a 22-year-old KNUST student visited the school compound with her boyfriend.

According to police prosecutors, Boateng allegedly confronted the couple while they were embracing and accused them of engaging in sexual activity. He is said to have assaulted the boyfriend and seized their mobile phones and room keys.

Prosecutors further allege that he demanded GH₵300 from the boyfriend before forcing him to leave the premises. Left alone with the complainant, Boateng allegedly threatened to disgrace her publicly by stripping her and parading her by the roadside.

He is also accused of forcing her into a classroom where he overpowered and raped her despite her resistance.

Second incident

The court was told that a second complaint was lodged on April 4, 2026, involving a 23-year-old student who reported a similar experience.

On that night, the student and her boyfriend, Daniel, had visited the school compound. Boateng allegedly confronted them, accusing them of breaking school rules by being on the premises at night.

Prosecutors say he dragged the boyfriend away and held the complainant hostage until the early hours of April 5.

It is further alleged that he assaulted her at knifepoint and forced her into sexual intercourse. He also reportedly compelled her to transfer GH₵150 via mobile money to his account.

Chief Inspector Samuel Agyare told the court that Boateng allegedly took nude photographs of the complainant and threatened to release them if she reported the incident to police.

Arrest and investigation

Boateng was arrested on April 13, 2026, after allegedly attempting to repeat similar actions on another potential victim. He was reportedly apprehended with the help of a boyfriend of one of the victims and community members, before being handed over to the police.

Medical reports submitted to the court confirmed signs of physical trauma on both complainants, according to the prosecution.

However, Boateng, in his caution statement to police, denied all the allegations.

The prosecution has requested that he remains in custody as investigations continue, noting that duplicate case files have been forwarded to the Attorney General’s Department for legal advice.

The case has been adjourned to May 8, 2026, while Boateng remains on remand.
