Former Finance Minister, Dr Mohammed Amin Adam, has reacted to President John Mahama’s address at the 80th United Nations General Assembly in New York on Thursday.
The Karaga MP described it as commendable but questioned its reflection at home.
“President Mahama’s address at the 80th United Nations General Assembly was truly commendable, particularly his insights on pressing global issues such as immigration, financing for development, the Middle East conflict, and climate change,” Dr Adam said in a Facebook post.
He praised the President’s performance on the world stage.
“His eloquent delivery and thought-provoking perspectives showcased his leadership capabilities on the international stage.”
But Dr Adam drew a contrast with Ghana’s domestic situation.
“It’s important how such a well-articulated vision and approach to international development translates to national development in Ghana, particularly as the reset economy is not resetting, whilst galamsey is out of control and free speech is being murdered.”
He added a note of hope for the future.
“Let’s hope his leadership principles and global perspectives inform his decision-making for the benefit of Ghana’s development. Best wishes to you, Mr. President.”
