Muzic Mensah says lack of support forced him to switch from gospel to secular music

Ghanaian musician Muzic Mensah has disclosed that he spent a decade in the gospel industry before a lack of support compelled him to transition to secular music.

Speaking on Daybreak Hitz with Doreen Avio, Muzic Mensah said he dedicated 10 years of his career to gospel music but did not receive the backing he expected from promoters and industry stakeholders.

“I now call myself a musician,” he noted, stressing his versatility across different styles.

His first secular single, Obi Besú, became a viral hit and marked a turning point in his career. The song’s success encouraged him to consistently release new material.

Since then, he has put out eight singles, including a collaboration with Kwame Yogot on Ankwanoma.

He also won ‘Best Highlife Artiste of the Year’ at the Ghana Music Awards USA, cementing his place in the highlife scene.
