The Rotary Club of Accra/Ridge has reaffirmed its commitment to community service by delivering free healthcare to residents of Kotoso and surrounding communities in the Kwahu East District of the Eastern Region.

The two-day medical outreach, held on 19th and 20th September 2025, marked the Fourth (4th) Edition of the Club’s annual health program.

The initiative brought medical services to 777 residents from Kotoso, Zekorpe, Asempaneye, Tokrom, Hyewohoden and parts of the Kwahu Ridge area.

The exercise was carried out in collaboration with medical professionals from Accra, with support from the Kwahu East and Kwahu South Health Directorates.

In addition to consultations and treatment, 255 residents were enrolled on the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), securing access to basic healthcare beyond the outreach.

Services provided included malaria testing, diabetes screening and treatment for hypertension, skin conditions, intestinal worms and diarrhoeal diseases. All patients received free medications.

The Club President, Oppong Agyare Agyeman-Anane, underscored the Club’s mission of service.

“This outreach is a reminder that good health should not be a privilege but a right. With the support of our partners and sponsors, we will continue to extend healthcare to communities like Kotoso and ensure that Rotary’s presence is felt where it matters most,” he said.

Lead physician for the exercise, Dr Alex Menka, observed that the initiative was bridging critical healthcare gaps for vulnerable families.

James Dornu Tanihu, Assemblyman for the area, described the outreach as a welcome relief for households struggling under economic hardship.

Past President Yaa Ohenewaa Nkrumah, who has coordinated the initiative since its inception, expressed gratitude to the doctors, nurses, pharmacists and district health officers who have supported the program over the years. “Their dedication has been central to the success of this initiative,” she remarked.

Residents expressed appreciation for the project. One beneficiary described it as “a blessing” that provided both treatment and renewed hope after months without medical attention.

This year’s outreach was made possible through the support of sponsors, including CAGL Global Company Ltd, GOIL Company Ltd, McDan Group, Corporate Intelligence Bureau, XpressGas Ltd, Tobinco Pharmaceuticals Ltd, Halkom Pharmacy Ltd, Alpha Pharma Unique Ltd, Voltron Jemen Ltd, Atlas Pharmacy Ltd, Q-Capital Microfinance, Kinapharma Ltd, Adimed Pharmacy, A.K.
