CHAG to host 2025 annual conference focused on Christian values in healthcare

The Christian Health Association of Ghana (CHAG) is set to host its 2025 Annual Conference, bringing together key national health leaders and faith-based stakeholders to discuss the future of ethical and values-driven healthcare in the country.

This year’s gathering will be held under the theme “Sustaining Christian Identity, Values, and Ethics in Health Systems Strengthening.”

The event will focus on how Christian principles and ethical leadership can reinforce a resilient, compassionate and high-performing health system.

Over the past six years, CHAG, with support from PharmAccess, has worked to strengthen quality healthcare across its facilities through the SafeCare programme. The initiative, now fully led by CHAG, is part of the association’s vision to ensure that every Ghanaian – regardless of location – receives dignified, safe and effective care.

SafeCare, a globally recognised quality improvement system developed by PharmAccess, provides structured standards that help hospitals improve patient safety, systems efficiency and service delivery. Since its rollout within CHAG facilities, the programme has contributed to measurable improvements in patient care, accountability and overall facility performance.

The 2025 annual conference will highlight Christian ethics in health systems strengthening and examine the Ministry of Health’s priorities for the 2026-2029 Health Sector Medium-Term Development Plan. The conference will also explore how values-based education can support holistic and compassionate care, as well as emphasise the importance of Christian stewardship in driving transformative change in healthcare delivery.

A major part of the programme will look at strengthening CHAG institutions through responsible leadership and effective resource management. In addition, conversations will address ethics and integrity in financial governance, underscoring the importance of accountability in sustaining quality healthcare.

The conference will be graced by the Chief of Staff at the Office of the President, Julius Debrah, who will is the Special Guest of Honour. The Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, Acting Director-General of the Ghana Health Service, Dr. Samuel Kaba Akoriyea and the Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye as expected to address the conference.
