Lakeside Marina Park has been named Eco Tourism Site and Attraction Development of the Year for the Greater Accra Region at the 25th National Tourism Awards.

The accolade recognises the park’s efforts in nature preservation, community engagement, and responsible tourism.

Since opening, the park has developed into a popular recreational destination for families, tourists and corporate groups.

Management highlighted a range of low-impact activities that aim to balance leisure with environmental care. These include waterslide experiences, jet ski rides, horse riding, extensive green spaces and lakeside relaxation areas.

The park’s design and operations emphasise cleanliness, safety and conservation.

Speaking after the ceremony, the Managing Director of Lakeside Estate noted the park’s role in improving wellbeing.

He said, “Studies show that rest and contact with nature reduce stress and improve performance at work,” adding that “the park is intended to offer both recreation and restorative space for visitors.”

The award citation cited years of investment in service standards and eco-conscious initiatives. Park management said the recognition reflects sustained work on visitor experience and environmental practices.

The team also thanked the Ministry of Tourism, the Ghana Tourism Authority and the many visitors whose patronage supports the park.

Beyond leisure, Lakeside Marina Park contributes to the regional economy by creating jobs and supporting local businesses.

Park officials said future plans will focus on expanding facilities while maintaining environmental safeguards and community partnerships.

Representatives who attended the awards included Dr Prince-Joseph MK Ayiku, Managing Director of Lakeside Estate; Salah Kweku Kalmoni, Director; Priscila Amenii, Park Manager; and Gifty Atayaw, Marketing Officer.

The award adds to a growing list of private sector projects that link tourism and real estate development, and it highlights the potential of managed green spaces to combine economic benefits with conservation and public well-being.
