Minister for Foreign Affairs Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has welcomed the resumption of Delta Air Lines’ non-stop flights between Accra and Atlanta, describing it as a major boost to Ghana’s aviation and economic diplomacy agenda.
The reinstated service began operations on December 1, 2025.
In a post on his Facebook page, Mr Ablakwa also praised Air Transat of Canada for introducing what he called a “historic” non-stop flight between Ghana and Canada, scheduled to commence on June 17, 2026.
He said the two developments mark an important progress for Ghana’s connectivity and international partnerships.
“I am excited about the re-introduction of Delta Air Lines’ non-stop flight from Accra to Atlanta (USA) which commenced operations yesterday, December 1, 2025.
“Ghana equally applauds Air Transat of Canada for initiating a historic non-stop flight from Ghana to Canada which begins on June 17, 2026,” he said.
The Minister noted that both routes will play a significant role in advancing Ghana’s foreign policy and economic interests.
“These refreshing developments will accelerate our economic diplomacy objectives, boost trade and tourism, and offer value and convenience mainly to Ghanaian travellers,” he added.
