Gospel singer Mavis Asante has shared how she met her husband, Prophet Abruku Abruka.
According to her, they met at Kwame Nkrumah Circle in Accra when she went to pick up a parcel sent from Kumasi.
At the time they met, she didn’t know he was a pastor until he was later invited to preach at her church.
“We met at Circle. I was going for my fees. They used to have this ford like now VIP that people send parcels to. So I was going to ford station to take a parcel from Kumasi and he was also going to take something from there. That time, I was walking with somebody so the person was waiting for me somewhere. We were in the queue; he took his parcel first before me but we didn’t talk and he left. When I took mine and was going to meet friend so we can leave, he was chatting with my friend and she introduced me to her but we didn’t exchange contacts,” she narrated to Roselyn Felli on Joy Prime.
A few months later, they met again at her church and exchanged contacts. That was how their journey officially began.
“Four months later, he was invited to our church to preach and that was when I realized that he’s a pastor. After the service, we exchanged numbers and he called me later in the evening.”
They built a strong friendship and started communicating regularly. He later encouraged her to participate in the Mentor music reality show, where she eventually became a music star.
She stated that she knew she would marry her husband while they were still in the friend zone because of how he supported her when she needed help.
“He’s a very good man and very supportive. He’s somebody who has my interest at heart; he hates to see me worried. He really did supported me when I went to mentor and I knew that he was the right man for me.”
However, before she met her husband, she had always known that she would marry a pastor because the majority of the men who approached her and showed interest in her were pastors. Hence, she wasn’t surprised when she eventually found out that her husband was one.
