Togbe Afede urges Ghanaians to support made-in-Ghana products

Togbe Afede XIV, Agbogbomefia of the Asogli State, has called on Ghanaians to prioritise locally made goods as a means of driving national economic growth.

Speaking at the 41st Ghana National Farmers’ Day celebration in Ho on Friday, December 5, Togbe Afede urged citizens to actively patronise products manufactured in Ghana, stressing that local consumption is key to creating jobs, boosting industry, and sustaining the livelihoods of farmers and artisans.

“Every cedi you spend on a Ghanaian product goes back into our economy. If we eat what we grow and buy what we make, we can grow Ghana together,” he said.

The Asogli traditional leader praised the resilience of farmers and fisherfolk, highlighting their role as the backbone of the country’s food security and economic development.

He also urged the government and private sector to complement this effort by supporting local enterprises through policies and initiatives that promote industrialisation.

Togbe Afede’s remarks resonated with the theme of this year’s Farmers’ Day, which emphasised innovation, sustainability, and the empowerment of Ghana’s agricultural and blue-economy sectors.

He concluded by reminding Ghanaians that “supporting our local products is not only patriotic; it is an investment in our collective future and the prosperity of our nation.”
