Ghana’s drive toward industrialisation has received a significant boost with the inauguration of Metrohm Central Africa, a regional centre dedicated to high-precision chemical analysis and technical support.
The facility is expected to enhance the country’s analytical capabilities and strengthen quality assurance across key sectors, including pharmaceuticals and food systems.
Director-General of the Ghana Standards Authority (GSA), Prof. George Adjei, described the centre’s establishment as timely and pivotal to the government’s industrial transformation agenda.
According to him, the success of Ghana’s industrial ambitions will depend on strong private-sector participation and the availability of robust scientific and technological infrastructure.
He emphasised that improving Ghana’s analytical space is essential to safeguarding public health, protecting consumers, and ensuring local industries meet international benchmarks.
“Ghana stands at an inflection point; our government industrialisation agenda requires robust and quality infrastructure, and our agricultural exports need credible testing to access other markets,” he said.
Metrohm Central Africa, which is part of the global Metrohm Group known for manufacturing high-precision instruments for chemical analysis, says its presence in Ghana reflects a long-term commitment to supporting industry with advanced technology.
The new facility will serve as a hub for hands-on training, technical support, and applications development, enabling customers to fully optimise their analytical instruments and processes.
General Manager of Metrohm Central Africa, Foster Mensah, assured industry players of consistent access to reliable, precision-driven solutions tailored to their specific needs. He believes the Ghana hub will help reduce downtime, enhance efficiency, and support local innovation across multiple sectors.
Also speaking at the inauguration, Swiss Ambassador to Ghana, Benin, and Togo, Simone Giger, said Metrohm’s expansion into Ghana reaffirms the country’s reputation as a preferred destination for investment and technological advancement.
She highlighted Ghana’s stable business environment and growing scientific ecosystem as key attractions for Swiss companies.
