Techiman police arrest 25 in major swoop; drugs seized

In a crackdown on crime and illicit drug trade, the Techiman District Police Command launched a major intelligence-led operation across the municipality on Tuesday evening, leading to the arrest of 25 suspects.

The operation, which commenced at 6:00 pm on December 16, was spearheaded by Superintendent Charles Atuah.

Police teams simultaneously stormed identified criminal hideouts and ghettos in three separate communities to flush out suspected gang members and drug dealers.

“A preemptive strike was necessary to disrupt the activities of these criminal elements and drug peddlers who pose a threat to the peace and security of Techiman,” stated Supt. Atuah. “This operation sends a clear message that the police will not relent in creating a safe environment for all residents.”

Breakdown of Arrests:

The first phase of the operation targeted the Abamu area, where thirteen (13) suspects were apprehended. They have been identified as:

· Mubarack Alhassan, 26
· Amoako Prosper, 28
· Manarf Inusah, 19
· Owusu Amos, 23
· Suleman Mudasel, 18
· Comfort Frimaa, 20
· Samuel Nimoh, 22
· Ridwan Mohammed, 21
· [Five other names from the original list].

The police team then moved to Kenten, where six (6) more suspects were arrested. They include:

· Zongo Umar, 35
· Sharif Yahaya, 18
· Nurideen Abu, 25
· Solomon Sheganyi, 18

The final leg of the operation was conducted at Tako, resulting in the arrest of six (6) additional individuals:

· Boahen Stephen, 22
· Frimpong James, 30
· Dabou Naa Michael, 23
· Tiwaa Hawa, 37

Drug Exhibits Recovered

A significant haul of suspected narcotics was retrieved from the various hideouts. The seized items include:

· Nineteen (19) wrappers of a whitish powder suspected to be cocaine.
· A quantity of dried leaves concealed in a polythene bag, suspected to be Indian hemp (cannabis).

All exhibits have been retained by the police for forensic analysis and will be presented as evidence in court.

Status of Suspects

All twenty-five arrested individuals are currently in police custody, assisting with investigations. They are expected to be screened and processed for court in the coming days.

The Techiman Police Command has commended residents for their support and urges the public to continue providing timely information on criminal activities.

“Community partnership is vital in our fight against crime,” Supt. Atuah added.

The operation underscores the police’s renewed commitment to rooting out crime and drug abuse in the region.
