The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced the registration of several new categories of officials and dignitaries who will be eligible to vote in its presidential primary, scheduled for Saturday, January 31, 2026.
This decision, made in accordance with Article 13(1)(11) of the party’s constitution and a motion adopted on July 19, 2025, aims to expand the primary’s voter register, also known as the album.
The newly included categories of delegates are extensive and broad, bringing in a wider range of party officials.
They include all former Regional and Constituency Executives, all former party card-bearing Members of Parliament and Parliamentary Candidates, and all past National Officers.
The list also features all former party card-bearing Ministers, Deputy Ministers, and Municipal/Metropolitan/District Chief Executives (MMDCEs).
Furthermore, the updated album will include members and patrons from various party councils.
The new delegates include all Members of the National Council of Elders, 30 Members of the National Council of Patrons, and 10 Members from each Regional Council of Elders and 10 Patrons from each region. At the constituency level, five members from each Constituency Council of Elders and five Patrons from each constituency will also be included.
The party has also extended inclusion to its external branches and tertiary student wings.
The register will now include all External Branch Executives and former External Branch Executives.
Additionally, it will feature the TESCON President from each recognised tertiary institution, the National TESCON Coordinator, all Regional TESCON Coordinators, and one TESCON Patron from each recognised institution.
According to a press release dated August 26, 2025, signed by Presidential Elections Committee Secretary, William Yemoah, the registration process requires all qualified officials to register their names with their respective organisational structures.
For convenience, an online registration link will be provided to External Branch Executives, while other members can download a registration form from the party’s website and liaise with their respective regions and constituencies.
The deadline for the exclusive registration exercise is Friday, September 19, 2025.
The Presidential Elections Committee will conduct a comprehensive verification to ensure that only an authentic and credible register is used for the election.
