Gbeniyiri clashes: Gender Minister supports victims

Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, for swiftly extending support to victims of the violent clashes in Gbeniyiri.

At least 10 people have been confirmed dead and several others injured following renewed violence over a land dispute in the farming community. Three of the injured are said to be in critical condition.

Speaking in an interview on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, Mr. Andrew said the Gender Minister had taken steps to prioritise the welfare of women and children who have been left stranded by the violence.

“She has put things in place to ensure that the children and women, who are the most affected, get food and other basic necessities,” he noted.

According to him, the Minister has directed that essential supplies be delivered to the displaced to make them comfortable in this period of distress.

“For now, NADMO is not well resourced, but hopefully they will also come in to add their support,” the MP added.

The clashes, which broke out on Sunday morning, reportedly began after a dispute over a parcel of land escalated into a deadly confrontation.
