The Minister for the Interior, acting on the advice of the North East Regional Security Council, has lifted the curfew imposed on Nalerigu Township and its surrounding communities with immediate effect.
The decision follows what government describes as a genuine commitment by the Chiefs and people of the area to sustain peace, coupled with an improvement in the overall security situation.
In a statement, the Minister, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, expressed appreciation to the Chiefs, Elders, Opinion Leaders, Youth, and residents of Nalerigu for their cooperation.
He urged them to continue relying on dialogue and peaceful means in addressing disputes.
Authorities say security agencies will continue to monitor developments to ensure that calm is maintained in the area.
