As cyber threats targeting governments, financial institutions, and critical infrastructure continue to rise worldwide, organisations in Ghana are intensifying efforts to safeguard their digital systems.
In response, global cybersecurity and connectivity firm Cloudflare, in partnership with Comsec Technology Solutions, hosted a three-day seminar series in Accra aimed at strengthening cyber resilience and protecting Ghana’s rapidly growing digital economy.
The initiative focused on equipping organisations to defend against sophisticated cyber threats, including large-scale Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) attacks.

The seminar coincides with Cloudflare’s expansion of its global network infrastructure, including the strategic deployment of network nodes in Accra. These nodes are designed to deliver faster, more reliable, and more secure internet services across Ghana and the wider West African region by addressing cyber threats closer to their source.
A unified front for national cyber defence
The seminar brought together industry leaders, technology experts, and key decision-makers from organisations that form the backbone of Ghana’s digital economy. Participants included representatives from financial institutions, government agencies, telecommunications providers, and other critical service sectors.
High-level representation from the Cyber Security Authority (CSA) underscored the event. A senior CSA official highlighted the importance of collaboration between government institutions, international technology providers, and local industry stakeholders in creating a “cyber-safe Ghana.”

Combating the rise in DDoS and web attacks
Cybersecurity specialists from Cloudflare shared insights into the evolving global threat landscape during the sessions, highlighting the increasing frequency of Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) attacks, which aim to overwhelm and shut down digital platforms.
Cloudflare experts demonstrated automated approaches to protect web applications, APIs, and internet-facing services from such attacks.
Complementing the global perspective, technology specialists from Comsec Technology Solutions offered local insights, sharing practical, region-specific security strategies and examples of Ghanaian organisations that have successfully strengthened their cybersecurity defences.
Leadership perspectives
Speaking at the event, Boaz Alon, Chief Executive Officer of Comsec Technology Solutions, stressed the critical role of cybersecurity in organisational resilience.
“As organisations across Ghana increasingly rely on complex digital systems and online services, cybersecurity has shifted from being purely an IT issue to a cornerstone of business continuity and national trust. Initiatives like this seminar series allow us to combine world-class global expertise with local implementation experience, ensuring Ghanaian organisations remain resilient against emerging threats,” he said.

Adding a global perspective, Graham Turnbull, Account Executive at Cloudflare, said the company aims to create a safer and faster internet for all.
“Our goal is to build a better internet—secure and fast for everyone. By strengthening our partnership with Comsec and investing in local infrastructure in Accra, we are equipping Ghanaian businesses with the tools to defend against the world’s most sophisticated DDoS attacks and cyber threats, ensuring their digital services remain reliable and high-performing,” he said.
Tailored sessions for critical sectors
The seminar series also included specialised sessions designed for key sectors.
One session focused on protecting the financial system, covering topics such as securing banking applications, safeguarding transaction data, and maintaining regulatory compliance in a high-risk digital environment.
Another session targeted government and public institutions, highlighting strategies to protect critical national data while keeping essential public services available.
Organisers said the initiative demonstrates the long-term commitment of Comsec Technology Solutions and Cloudflare to support Ghana with advanced cybersecurity knowledge and modern protection technologies, ensuring the country’s digital future is secure.
