Asamoah Gyan Leads Ghana at PUMA’s 2026 World Cup Kit Launch in New York

Ghana and Africa’s all-time leading World Cup scorer, Asamoah Gyan, partnered with global sportswear giant PUMA to reveal the Black Stars’ new kit ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The launch took place at Domino Square in New York City, placing Ghana at the center of a global showcase featuring 10 other nations across four continents.

In a press release, PUMA described the event as “a celebration of football, music, food, and culture,” adding that the kits were unveiled in a unique street football setting rather than in a stadium or cinematic campaign. Local community players from each nation were the first to wear the new kits, bringing the launch directly to the fans.

The Black Stars are among five African nations backed by PUMA at the upcoming World Cup, alongside Morocco, Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire, and Egypt. Since partnering with Ghanaian football in the mid-2000s, PUMA will outfit nearly a quarter of all teams participating in the tournament, emphasizing the brand’s strong connection to Africa.

“At the heart of that presence is PUMA’s connection to Africa,” the company stated, highlighting the role of its partner federations in shaping the identity, energy, and future of global football.

The event also reflected football’s worldwide diversity, with European nations including Portugal, Czech Republic, Switzerland, and Austria, as well as Paraguay and New Zealand, taking part.

Breaking from tradition, the kits were debuted through a 4v4 street football tournament, giving community players the first chance to experience them in action. “We wanted to connect with fans where it matters most—on their city pitches,” said Nadia Kokni, PUMA Vice President Global Brand Marketing.

Football legends Ricardo Quaresma, Asamoah Gyan, and El Hadji Diouf were present, bridging past and present, while Ghanaian artist Black Sherif performed live, complemented by DJs and cultural showcases from participating nations.

“The culture of football drives us,” said Dominique Gathier, PUMA Vice President Teamsport. “This collection combines cutting-edge performance innovation with cultural identity, equipping nations across four continents and uniting technical excellence with the spirit that brings fans together on the world’s biggest stage.”

The 2026 kit collection will be available from March 24, featuring ULTRAWEAVE technology and dryCELL fabric, with replica jerseys produced through RE:FIBRE as part of PUMA’s sustainability initiative.
