New Signage Installed at Accra International Airport to Improve Passenger Navigation

The installation of new signage at Accra International Airport has been completed after minor delays earlier in the week.

Airport authorities say the work was finalised in the early hours of Saturday, March 21, 2026, following overnight maintenance carried out to avoid disrupting passengers and daily operations.

According to officials, the repainting and installation were deliberately scheduled after the last flight due to the height of the structures and their location around the car park, helping to minimise inconvenience to travellers and the general public.

The upgraded signage is expected to make navigation within Terminal 3 easier for passengers, while also enhancing Ghana’s image as a key aviation hub in the sub-region.

The Ghana Airports Company Limited thanked passengers and stakeholders for their feedback, noting that public input continues to play an important role in ongoing improvements at the airport.

The development follows the government’s recent decision to revert the facility’s name from Kotoka International Airport to Accra International Airport.

In a statement issued on February 23, the Ministry of Transport Ghana explained that the airport was originally known as Accra International Airport before it was renamed, and that the move reflects its broader international recognition.

The Ministry also assured the public that the change will not affect airport operations, safety standards, or international travel arrangements. It added that the airport’s code under the International Civil Aviation Organization remains unchanged as “ACC.”
