Odumasi Health Centre Appeals for Standby Power Plant to Prevent Service Disruptions

The Adansi Odumasi Health Centre in the Obuasi East Municipality of the Ashanti Region has appealed to the government, stakeholders, and the general public for support to acquire a standby power plant, warning that unreliable electricity supply continues to disrupt critical healthcare services.

The appeal was made by Senior Physician Assistant Jabiuk Jabgben Francis during a donation exercise by philanthropist Christopher Asamoah, who presented a washing machine and other medical items to improve sanitation and service delivery at the facility.

Speaking to Adom News correspondent Isaac K. Normanyo, Mr Francis said the health centre has for years relied on manual laundry processes, raising concerns about infection control and the safety of both patients and staff.

He noted that while the donation of a washing machine marks a significant improvement in hygiene standards, the lack of a dependable power supply remains a major challenge.

“We need a standby power plant to ensure uninterrupted operations, especially during emergencies,” he stressed.

Mr Asamoah, a native of the Odumasi community, said his donation was driven by a personal commitment to support development in his hometown. He revealed that he has previously contributed hospital beds, bed sheets, and other essential items to the facility, with some support coming from Adansi residents in the United Kingdom.

He encouraged others, particularly those in the diaspora, to follow suit and contribute towards improving healthcare delivery in the area.

The Regent of Adansi Odumasi, Nana Kwantepinaa Kwamoa Bosompim, commended the philanthropist for his continued support and urged other community members to also play their part in developing the health centre. He further offered prayers for the donor and emphasised the importance of collective effort in addressing the facility’s challenges.

Management of the health centre remains hopeful that the call for a standby power plant will receive urgent attention to help safeguard lives and improve healthcare services in the municipality.
