Media personality Berla Mundi has opened up about how she managed to bring together dancehall rivals Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale for a rare public moment of unity.
The two artists, whose rivalry dates back to their widely publicised clash at the 2019 Ghana Music Awards, surprised many when they shared a hug at a recent fundraising event in support of the Black Stars’ 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign.
Recounting the moment, Berla Mundi said the idea came to her after noticing the reaction of the President, who was present at the event.
According to her, the President appeared visibly pleased when the two musicians first exchanged a handshake.
“I saw how happy the President looked when they shook hands, and it felt like such a beautiful moment,” she explained. “So I thought, why not take it a step further?”
She added that the President even gestured for more, prompting her to act.
“He started signalling that they should hug, so I told them, ‘Mr President says hug, let’s do it,’” she recounted with a smile.
The spontaneous gesture was met with loud cheers from the audience, with many praising Berla Mundi for helping to create a moment of unity between the long-time rivals.
She expressed hope that the brief reconciliation would mark the beginning of a more positive relationship between the two artists, saying she was delighted to have played a role in such a memorable moment.
