The Ghana Para Athletics team has departed the Kotoka International Airport in Accra to participate in the 2026 Commonwealth Games GAP Training Camp and Competition.
The team comprises Paralympians Zinabu Issah and Botsyo Nkegbe, who are being accompanied by their coaches, Emmanuel Anum Sowah and Patrick Yaw Obeng.
As part of their preparation for the upcoming Commonwealth Games, the athletes will take part in a high-performance training camp alongside an international competition designed to sharpen their skills.
The programme forms part of the Commonwealth GAPS Training Programme, an initiative aimed at supporting elite athletes from Commonwealth countries ahead of the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland.
Officials say Ghana’s participation has been made possible through collaboration between the National Paralympic Committee (NPC Ghana) and the Ghana Olympic Committee, a partnership that continues to open doors for para athletes to train and compete on the international stage.
The training camp is expected to enhance the athletes’ technical development while providing valuable international exposure.
The team is scheduled to return to Ghana on April 1, 2026, after completing the programme.
