DBI Assembly and Traditional Leaders Donate Medical Equipment to Issah Polyclinic, Motorbike to Police

District Chief Executive for Daffiama-Bussie-Issa, James Wor, together with traditional leaders, has handed over medical equipment worth between GH₵400,000 and GH₵500,000 to the Issah Polyclinic, along with a GH₵26,000 visibility motorbike for the district police command.

The life-saving equipment was funded through the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF), while the motorbike was purchased using the Issah Area Council’s Internally Generated Funds (IGF).

The medical supplies—including delivery beds, baby cots, phototherapy machines, radiant warmers, and an autoclave—will outfit a newly completed maternity ward that had previously been abandoned.

Mr. Wor emphasized that the assembly treated the polyclinic’s request as urgent, ensuring the facility can immediately provide essential services to the community.

He stressed that building new CHPS compounds alone is not enough when major facilities still lack essential equipment.

He also revealed that the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) had threatened to withdraw accreditation from some CHPS compounds, a move that could have forced their closure.

To address these challenges, James Wor announced upcoming renovations for the Wogu, Tabiesi, and Sazia CHPS compounds, aiming to bridge the district’s health infrastructure gap.

Acting Medical Superintendent Dr. Paschalina Langmagne said the new equipment will significantly reduce referrals to the regional hospital, particularly for neonatal care and phototherapy. She noted that it will also address severe space constraints in the maternity block, which previously had only two overcrowded rooms.

District Director of Health Services, Madam Genevieve Yiripare, described the intervention as an important step toward closing the equipment gap, bringing the polyclinic closer to full accreditation as a District Hospital.

On the security front, the newly donated motorbike was acquired following a request from the district police command to improve mobility, enhance visibility, and support revenue collection efforts.

Assembly member for the Issa-Sintaayiri Electoral Area, Ernest Kangsangabata, noted that police support had previously helped the district surpass its GH₵60,000 revenue target, bringing in over GH₵102,000.

He added that the motorbike will address major logistical challenges faced by officers, including the need to find alternative transport late at night to pursue vehicles that default on revenue payments.

Superintendent Daniel Sogah, Nadowli-Kaleo District Commander of the Ghana Police Service, who oversees the Daffiama-Bussie-Issa district, expressed gratitude for the new logistics support.
