Ghana, UK Strengthen Education Ties After Iddrisu Meets British High Commissioner

The Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to strengthening international partnerships in the education sector following talks with the British High Commissioner to Ghana, Christian Rogge.

The discussions, held during a courtesy call at the Ministry of Education, centred on deepening bilateral cooperation and identifying new opportunities to improve education delivery in the country.

During the meeting, Mr. Iddrisu outlined a range of ongoing reforms aimed at improving access, quality, and equity across all levels of the education system.

The Minister also indicated Ghana’s readiness to deepen international collaboration, noting that the Ministry is open to granting accreditation to credible higher education institutions looking to establish programmes or partner with local institutions.

He, however, stressed that any such partnerships must align with national development priorities and make a meaningful contribution to skills development and human capital growth.

For his part, the British High Commissioner, Mr. Rogge, praised the government’s reform agenda and reaffirmed the United Kingdom’s readiness to support Ghana’s education sector.

He noted that the UK remains committed to deepening cooperation through strategic partnerships, capacity building, and knowledge sharing, all aimed at improving outcomes across the education system.
