Gyankroma Akufo-Addo Denies $25M Accra Interchange Painting Allegations, Vows Legal Action

Gyankroma Akufo-Addo has strongly denied renewed claims that she received $25 million to paint interchanges in Accra, calling the allegations “entirely absurd and false.”

In a public statement released on Friday, March 27, she dismissed the accusation as baseless, emphasizing that no such contract has ever existed, been proposed, or awarded to her.

“Let me state, unequivocally and for the record: This claim is completely false,” she stressed.

“No such contract has ever existed, been offered, or awarded,” Gyankroma Akufo-Addo stated, directly addressing recent claims.

She challenged those behind the allegations to provide proof, insisting that none exists.
“If any individual, media platform, or commentator is in possession of such a contract, I challenge them to produce it publicly. They will not, because it does not exist,” she added.

Clarifying the origins of her work, Gyankroma explained that the Art for All projects were independently developed and funded. The initiative was implemented through the Creative Arts Agency with support from private sector partners, as well as personal contributions—details she says have already been made public.

She also accused certain individuals and platforms of deliberately resurfacing the claims to mislead the public and tarnish her reputation.
“The deliberate revival and spread of this fabrication, particularly across social media platforms, is a calculated attempt to mislead the public and damage my reputation,” she stated.

In response, Gyankroma announced legal action.
“I have today instructed my lawyers to take immediate legal action against the individuals, platforms, and media outlets responsible for publishing and amplifying these falsehoods,” she said firmly. “I will not allow deliberate misinformation to go unchallenged.”
