Dzifa Gomashie Inspects Progress on Centre for National Culture Project in Fijai

The Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, has inspected ongoing works at the Centre for National Culture (CNC) project in Fijai in Ghana’s Western Region.

The project includes a 1,500-seater auditorium, along with facilities such as amphitheatres, event grounds, a gym, and a cafeteria. Despite challenges, construction has progressed steadily, with key structures taking shape.

During the visit, the Minister was guided through the site by the lead contractor from Attachy Construction Limited and representatives of Macaw, the project suppliers.

Engineers, architects, planners, and surveyors working on the project expressed optimism that the facility will be completed to a high standard, describing it as a potential world-class cultural centre for the Western Region and beyond.

The Minister reviewed the original scope of the project, which includes the construction of a perimeter fence wall, a craft village, an administration block, guest houses, and an auditorium.

Madam Gomashie also made key contributions to the project’s deliverables and urged the team to factor in the impact of climate change in the design and planning stages.

She noted that the challenges facing the National Theatre of Ghana should serve as a lesson for improving future work, adding that she would invite the project team to inspect the facility so they could operate with a clearer understanding of the situation.

In response, Attachy Construction Limited assured the Minister that the team was on track to meet the November deadline. The company also appealed for steady and timely funding to ensure smooth implementation of the contract and uninterrupted progress on the project.
