Concerns are growing among some Ghanaians over the safety of certain beverages marketed as energy drinks, with calls for stronger regulation and public awareness.
Some individuals have raised alarm, claiming that certain drinks may be linked to adverse health effects and are urging authorities to tighten controls on products in the market. They are calling on the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) to intensify inspections and remove any unsafe or expired beverages from circulation.
In response to the broader concerns, the CEO of Demih’s Natural Fruit Juice, Mr. Emmanuel Demiah, has urged Ghanaians to take greater responsibility for their dietary choices and pay closer attention to what they consume.
He warned that poor consumption habits could have serious health consequences and stressed the need for increased public education on food and drink safety.
“We urge Ghanaians not to take in anything without checking its background. It is very important that they put their safety first,” he said.
Mr. Demiah also called for stronger scrutiny of beverages on the market, including proper verification of their sources, health impact, and regulatory approval before consumption.
