Antwirifo chief appeals for support to build police station and improve security in Dormaa Central

The Chief of Antwirifo in the Dormaa Central Municipality of the Bono Region, Baffour Takyi Ababio, has appealed for financial and material support to help construct a police station aimed at improving security in the community and surrounding areas.

According to the chief, the community has already secured land for the project and begun preparations, including a building design, but inadequate funding continues to delay the start of construction.

Speaking during the Bono Regional Minister’s “Accounting to the People” tour on Tuesday, Baffour Takyi Ababio described the proposed police station as a critical project needed to strengthen security and support development in the area.

He disclosed that he has engaged the Municipal Police Commander on the initiative, but financing remains the major obstacle.

Speaking to Kaakyire Kwasi Afari of Sunyani-based Ark FM, the chief noted that improved security would help attract investors and encourage the establishment of businesses in the community.

Beyond security, the Antwirifo chief also appealed for the construction of a modern market to boost trading activities and improve livelihoods.

The chief, who also serves as the Dormaa Bombahene, said he is prepared to release land if the government agrees to support the market project.

He further commended the NDC government for ongoing development initiatives in the area and expressed optimism that the party could secure increased votes in the constituency during the 2028 general elections.
