Three remanded by Nsuta Circuit Court over alleged narcotics offences

The Nsuta Circuit Court in the Sekyere Central District of the Ashanti Region has remanded three men into prison custody over alleged narcotics-related offences.

The accused — 23-year-old rider Fuseni Ali, popularly known as Adwen; 23-year-old bus conductor Francis Manu, also known as Freedom; and 37-year-old driver Eric Mahama, alias Apeele — are all residents of Offinso-Kokote.

The court, presided over by His Lordship Simon Nketia Gagah, issued the remand order on Tuesday, April 21, 2026.

Presenting the case, Detective Chief Inspector Peter Kantoreje told the court that officers from the Ashanti North Operations Command in Mampong acted on intelligence suggesting the suspects were involved in the sale and use of narcotic substances, including tramadol, at Offinso-Kokote.

According to the prosecution, police conducted an operation on Friday, February 17, 2026, at a location popularly known as “Backyard” in Kokote, where the three suspects were allegedly arrested while dealing in the substances.

Police said a search on Fuseni Ali led to the retrieval of 20 boxes of 225mg tramadol and four boxes of 250mg tramadol.

Officers also allegedly found 30 wraps of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, 14 pieces of toffees, 15 wraps of substances wrapped in brown paper believed to be Indian hemp, and three tablets of 100mg tramadol on Francis Manu.

In the case of Eric Mahama, police reportedly recovered 110 wraps of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.

The prosecution further told the court that the suspects were taken to the Regional CID alongside the retrieved exhibits, where they allegedly admitted ownership of the items in their caution statements.

Fuseni Ali and Francis Manu are also said to have identified an individual known only as “Don King” as their supplier.

The court heard that investigations are still ongoing to arrest the alleged supplier and other possible accomplices. The pleas of the accused persons were therefore not taken.

The case has been adjourned to May 9, 2026, for mention.
