Ernest Nuamah has returned to full training with Olympique Lyonnais after spending nearly a year on the sidelines due to injury.
The Ghanaian forward has not featured in competitive action since April 2025, when he suffered an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury during a clash with Lille defender Gabriel Gudmundsson in the opening minutes of a Ligue 1 match.
Now fully back on the training pitch, the 22-year-old was warmly welcomed by teammates as he rejoined first-team training sessions at the French club. He resumed alongside teammates Malick Fofana and Rémi Himbert, both of whom have also been recovering from long-term injuries.
Nuamah’s return is expected to boost Lyon ahead of their upcoming Ligue 1 fixture against Rennes on May 3, as the club gradually reintegrates key players into the squad.
His comeback also comes at a crucial time for the Ghana national team, as he pushes to regain full fitness ahead of preparations for the FIFA World Cup, with less than 45 days to the final squad announcement.
New Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz has indicated that only players in top form will make the squad, with his final list for the expanded 48-team tournament due by June 1.
Ghana have been drawn in Group L alongside England, Croatia, and Panama, as they aim to progress beyond the group stage for the first time since their memorable 2010 World Cup run.
