E/R Police Intercept Truck Carrying 80 Sacks of Suspected Marijuana at Odumase Krobo

The Eastern Regional Police Command has intercepted a large consignment of substances suspected to be marijuana at Odumase Krobo in the Eastern Region.

The operation led to the seizure of about 80 sacks of dried leaves believed to be narcotic substances.

Speaking on the development with Bigstuffmedia gh,The Deputy Eastern Regional Police Commander, ACP Appiah Richard, said the police acted on intelligence and monitored a Hyundai truck with registration number ER 5724-15, which was allegedly transporting the suspected drugs from Otokporlu.

He explained that the vehicle was intercepted during the operation, leading to the arrest of a suspect identified as Solomon Tetteh, a welder who reportedly claimed ownership of the consignment.

The truck driver and his mate, however, managed to flee the scene before they could be arrested.

Police investigations later helped track down the owner of the truck used in transporting the 80 sacks of suspected marijuana, a development authorities describe as a major breakthrough in the ongoing investigations.

The police say efforts are still underway to arrest all other persons connected to the operation and ensure they are brought to justice.

The Eastern Regional Police Command has also issued a strong warning to individuals involved in the transportation of illegal substances, stressing that offenders will be dealt with firmly in accordance with the law.
